Applidude is a very simple productivity utility for your Mac. It does only one thing, but it does it well: it keeps a window opened which displays the icon and the name of the currently active application. This is great for people who tend to wander away from work into other applications and quickly forget what they were doing. Applidude's window can be moved around to keep it from interfering with your work. Every time you switch applications, the window will change to show you the new active application and, using a text-to-speech engine, Applidude will read its name aloud. By default, the window will disappear ten seconds after you switch applications, but you can change the number of seconds or disable this feature altogether. From the Preferences window, you can also set Applidude to start at login, tell the app not to speak the name of active applications and to display agent applications.

In short, this is a nice application, but if you switch applications regularly while you work, it would be a good idea to disable the text-to-speech feature. It can get a bit annoying.
