Aiseesoft iPod + iPhone 4 Mac Suite combines two different applications in a single package. These are iPod Manager for Mac and Mac iPhone 4 Ringtone Creator. The most interesting app of the suite is the manager, because it lets you transfer content from and to your device, convert video files, rip DVD movies and, well, even create ringtones, all from a single window. I am puzzled as to why the developers decided to create a suite with an extra ringtone creator when iPod Manager already includes one.
When you run this suite, you will see a launcher that lets you access each of the two apps that are included in it. You can only run one application at the time and they will be launched in a separate window.
The iPod manager allows you to transfer content both from and to your iOS devices. The app not only supports the iPod Touch, but it also works with the iPhone 4 and an iPad 2. The application has a built-in video converter and DVD ripper as I mentioned above, and those apps can output files in H.264, MPEG-4, M4V and MOV. They come with conversion profiles for all the iPhone models released to date, including the newly-released iPhone 5. The apps can also convert video files to audio files, and the formats supported are AIFF, MP3, WAV and M4A.
The ringtone maker lets you add a video or audio file or a DVD movie, and trim it to a shorter clip that you can convert to M4R, which is the default format used by Apple devices for ringtones. You can then transfer the file directly to your iOS device if it is connected. This ringtone maker is more complete than the one included in the iPod Manager app, but I still find it to be unnecessary in this suite.
