WinX DVD to iPhone Converter for Mac is a free DVD ripper. It can be used to convert your DVD movies into video files that you can play on your iPhone or to convert those movies into audio files. This second feature is very useful when you want to rip a concert DVD into MP3 files. The supported output formats are H.264 and MPEG-4 for video and MP3 for audio. Although you will only find iPhone profiles, the files that you convert with this tool will be playable on the iPad and AppleTV as well, and of course, on any modern computer.
When you first launch the application, you will find some on-screen help that guides you through the process. It is very easy. All you have to do is to insert the DVD that you want to rip, and load it by clicking on the first button of the top toolbar. Then, you simply select one of the conversion profiles from the "Profile Setting" drop-down menu. There are 9 profiles for the iPhone. Most of them use the MPEG-4 codec, but some use H.264. You can change additional settings like audio quality, audio sample rate, video quality, frame rate, aspect ratio, resolution, CPU cores to use, etc.
