Compiled HTML Help (CHM) is a format that shares some popularity among Windows users in particular due to the simplicity of its design as well as being native to the operating system. They consist of HTML files and are mainly used for displaying application Help files, books or tutorials. In order to view CHM data, Non-Windows users have one of two alternatives: get a CHM viewer or an extractor. Tubby falls in the second category. The utility expands a CHM file by extracting all HTML, retaining layout and page links.
Tubby is a fairly minimalist tool which may be expected for its size. There are no output setting available; it automatically creates a folder (with the CHM name) in the same location where the CHM file lies and extracts its HTML contents. As with most one-functionality tools, I expected a drop area for opening a CHM file; Tubby however requires you to drop files into its Dock icon. Also, the application can only extract HTML contents from one CHM file at a time. Currently, no batch processing is available.
