Multi-camera video surveillance app.

SecuritySpy is an incredibly complete camera surveillance tool. I use it when I am away from home to spy on my pets.

The application allows you to connect a web camera or another video input and record any activity. You can record video with sound or take snapshots at regular intervals. What is great about SecuritySpy is that it allows you to customize how and when to record activity. Since it supports motion detection, you can tell it to record video when a certain amount of movement is detected. You can also take snapshots at the same time. You can add many sources to the application, and you can preview them all at once. Every device will have different settings, which can be identical if you want. But this gives you freedom to set up a very versatile surveillance system.

SecuritySpy also installs a web server and a web user interface. This allows you to connect to your computer over the Internet and see what is going on at home. You can also access any of your recordings from any web browser. The quality of the recordings depend highly on the quality of your web camera or video input, but I was able to record good videos using the iSight webcam.

Pros

  • Scheduled recording
  • Motion detection
  • Web server integration
  • It supports multiple cameras
  • Good customization options

Cons

  • Doesn't recognize certain devices

SecuritySpy's free for viewing, while pricing for cameras is scalable. Its also Mac native software (unlike competitors, not a performance compromised port) thus developed with native technologies from the ground up, such as Smart A.I Human & vehicle detection, Metal-accelerated video display, and H.265 (HEVC) support. As well as support for industry standards such as ONVIF, RTSP, Automatic HTTPS certificate generation (vie Lets Encrypt) IFTTT and many more.

I reviewed the software and it is quite good unfortunately it is too expensive. There are better options. For example, if you are on a Mac, you can install virtual box and Windows so that you can use ispy.
