Info updated on:

Transfer files from physical DVDs to Mac as image files and media clips by processing the disk image in the application and exploring its content or generating an exact copy with an option to burn on a different disk. Various image formats like ISO and DMG are available.

RipIt gets your movies off the disc and onto your Mac, where it's easier to find, organize and play them.
Why Rip Your DVDs?
- Use your laptop longer!
Laptops use a lot more juice when they're spinning a DVD and a hard drive.
- Easily organize your movies!
Moving files around on your computer is a lot easier than alphabetizing shelves full of DVDs.
- Find movies faster!
Use your Mac's built in search tool, Spotlight, to find a movie in your collection... instantly.
- Peace of mind!
Movies stored safely in your computer can't get lost, scratched or broken.
- Simplify entertainment on the go!
Why carry around bulky DVD cases or disc wallets when you don't have to?

I downloaded this software to try. It quickly ripped the DVD and saved the file as dvdmedia on the hard drive. The file works fine on my macbook pro but I haven't been able to get it into an mp4 format so I can put it on my 1st Gen Apple TV. If there is a way to save the ripped file in mp4 I'll be a happy camper and would happily purchase use and recommend the program.
