ReTickr is a social media and news program. For free you get all of the news and your social network updates in one ticker that is scrolling all of this information on top, right side, or bottom side of your screen. Whenever you spot something of interest, you can just point to that item to read more.

Each news or social updates can be shared on Twitter, Facebook or emailed. Sharing is only possible if you authorized retirckr to access the respective service. You can add texts to your shares, so your friends will get a little comment from you on something you've found interesting.

The main window includes feeds divided by categories. Within those categories you will find multiple sources. Adding sources should be quite easy, but it did not work for me quite properly. There is an action update small window floating somewhere by the main window that informs you of what's happening with ticker. I've tried adding a feed and it didn't work at first, but then, all of a sudden the update window showed that the feed was added, when in fact it was not. I think it was just a one-time bug on my end, and I am sure it will be ok if you decide to try this program out.

Overall, the idea is amazingly simple, though the developers made a little bit confusing interface. Preferences are jammed with categories of the feeds, which I thought it was out of its place, but the ticker itself got all the needed buttons, so there is no really a need for the main window - you see how confusing it can be?!
