Info updated on:

Orbits is a simulator of the Solar System that displays celestial objects, their positions and plenty of useful educational information. This program can be used by any Mac user, no matter his or her computer experience, as it provides you with an intuitive interface and very simple-to-configure display settings.

The application provides you with 2D and 3D representations of our Solar System, offers you detailed information regarding all planets, and gives you access to plenty of useful tips. What's more, it lets you adjust the view angle of the 3D representation, hide or reveal stars, and add objects to the simulation (for instance, asteroids).

Another thing I like about this program is the fact that it enables you to check planets orbiting paths and zoom in the representation. You can always start and stop the orbiting animation, select the preferred starting date for the orbiting, and much more.

This utility will provide you with plenty of details regarding the planets in your Solar System. For instance, you can learn their eccentricity, orbital period, mass, surface area, and many others.

To conclude, I think it's worth installing this free program on your Mac if you wish to study Astronomy on your Mac and learn more about our Solar System.
