Nazi Zombies Portable is a fan-made recreation of the Nazi Zombies mode that comes with some Call of Duty games. It is a portable version, which means that no installation is required. It is also available for multiple platforms, including Mac, Windows and PSP. The Mac port isn't a native version; it uses Wine to emulate the Windows framework.
This application is in an early beta stage, and that is evident from the moment when you run the application for the first time. I struggled quite a bit to get it to work. When I ran the app, Wine wanted to download some components that it was missing. The download failed, and from that moment on, even after restarting the app, nothing would happen. I had to restart my Mac to keep on trying to run it. I eventually got it to work.
The game features quite a few different maps from Nazi Zombies. There are different game modes, including an online variant. I played the solo mode, and after setting all the controls and screen resolution manually, I ventured into the game to see if I could kill some zombies. Strangely enough, I didn't see any zombies. I wandered around for a few minutes and nothing ever happened. The maps look a lot like the original ones, but the graphics are very rustic.
In short, I have to give credit to the developers for putting this together. Most users, however, will more likely want to stay away from the app and keep on playing the original Nazi Zombies.
