Learn French Deluxe is a program that provides you with an entertaining yet efficient way to learn how to speak and write in French. The application lets you choose between various practice activities, gives you access to multiple flashcards for studying, and offers you text-to-speech support.

On the main window of the utility you'll see a list with all offered activities: Vocabulary Trainer, True Or False, Verb Conjugations, Spelling Test, Hangman, Anagram, Memory Match, Word Search, and Flashcards. Unfortunately, the second and the sixth exercise modes are unavailable for free and you need to make an in-app purchase in order to unlock them.

The Vocabulary Trainer activity shows sets of four images and words written in French. Your goal is to match the word with one of the pictures. Personally, I enjoyed practising my knowledge with these exercises. There's no scoring feature or maximum amount of questions available; you can play the game as long as you want and then get back to the main menu of the app to check another activity. I also liked playing the Word Search and Hangman games.

An important advantage is that it gives you access to dozens of flashcard sets. For example, there's a batch of flashcards for irregular verbs. The application provides you with the English translation, pronunciation, and spelling of the listed verbs.

All in all, I think it's worth making the in-app purchase and have the entire program installed on your Mac. The utility offers you an interesting and fun way to study and practice the French language from the comfort of your home and without paying for a tutor or attending courses.
