Info updated on:

KeePassX is a program for Mac that enables you to store email accounts credentials, credit card passwords, software license keys or any other private info in one single, secured place. This application offers you a simple yet effective way to prevent other users from accessing the aforementioned confidential data.

The utility enables you to create databases containing personal details about your bank accounts, emails, website login credentials, etc. You can sort the entered info into groups (for example: home, office, email, etc.), export the private info to text files for later use, and search stored account details within the created databases.

An advantage of this program is that it also provides you with an efficient password generator which comes in handy when creating new email accounts.

My only concern regarding this application is that KeePassX doesn't offer you any solution if you forget your master access password. So, to be on the safe side, make sure you enter an access password which you can easily remember later on.

To conclude, KeePassX is a helpful app that offers you an easy yet efficient way to store all of your private info away from other users to access. The program comes with a user-friendly interface, uses powerful encryption algorithms, and is free of charge.

The 2.0.3 version uses the new data format but has lost important functionality in older versions, namely the ability to create an archive by importing XML files. For this reason I prefer to continue using the old KeePassX 0.4.4 Security Update, available from the same website.
