iZip is a utility designed to help you create and extract archive files on your Mac computer. The program is very intuitive, supports drag-and-drop actions, lets you password-protect the create archive files, and takes a small amount of time to extract archives.

You can choose between 2 types of tasks: one is to compress data and the other one is for extracting the contents of your archive files. When creating an archive, you can use the integrated setup assistant which will guide you every step of the way. This assistant comes in handy to people who aren't familiar with archive files or this type of Mac programs.

The program enables you to extract archive files with just a few clicks. A great thing is that you can check the contents of the loaded archive file before launching the extraction process.

Sadly, iZip comes with several disadvantages. For starters, it occasionally freezes, especially when importing archive files for extraction. iZip also offers you support for a small amount of archive formats (only 2 formats for creating archives - ZIP and ZIPX).

Another thing I don't like about this tool is the appearance of its interface. Even though it's intuitive, it looks like a program that was created a long time ago.

So, I'd say it's worth installing this utility on your Mac only if the aforementioned flaws mean nothing to you. It's free, so you have nothing to lose.
