FreeMan is a system optimization and monitoring tool. It can be used to free RAM memory to speed up your system.
FreeMan runs on the menubar, and a small window will appear when you hover your mouse over its icon. This window shows the memory used at the moment. These values are refreshed automatically every 5 seconds, but you can also customize this to refresh anywhere between every 1 second to every 30 seconds.
From the Preferences window, you can change the colors used for the charts used in the menubar window, assign a shortcut, and set the app to run when you turn on your Mac.
When I tested FreeMan, I clicked on the button that starts the memory clean up process, and every time I did that I got an alert saying that 0 megabytes were freed. I don't know if this is because I didn't need any memory freed or because the app doesn't work. I do have 8 gigabytes installed on this Mac, and that is more than enough for me. Users with less memory will benefit more from this app.
Pros
- Hotkey support
- Nice graphs
Cons
- I couldn't get it to free up memory
