FontBook is a program that comes as an alternative to using Mac's font manager to preview text styles. This simple utility lets you choose between multiple preview modes, allows you to quickly print text styles, and features a comprehensive help manual.
All you need to do is to select the Font option from the main menu of the tool, select the text style you wish to preview, and choose a layout (a preview mode) from the given list.
macOS provides you with a default solution for previewing and printing text styles which has a similar name (Font Book). Even though Mac's tool doesn't provide you with as many preview modes as FontBook, it still lets you check the text styles that are being installed on your computer and print them directly from its interface. Also, you don't have to pay a dime to use Font Book since it's a default tool.
Another aspect you need to know is that FontBook, unlike Mac's program, doesn't bring you a built-in search tool to help you immediately find the font style you need to preview and print.
So, in my opinion, you should first check Mac's default font tool and see if it has everything you need. If you need more preview modes, then FontBook might be the solution for you.
