Emicsoft WMV Converter for Mac is a video conversion tool. WMV (Windows Media Video) is one of the few problematic video formats that I have come across on the Mac. QuickTime can't play it unless you download additional components, and some of the great video players for the Mac have problems with it. One of the solutions to this problem is to convert the format to a Mac-friendly format. This application can be used to convert WMV files to formats like H.264, MPEG, MOV, AVI, MP4, FLV and 3GP and the other way around. The application also comes with conversion profiles for a variety of devices.
There is a video editor that allows you to trim and crop your videos and adjust their brightness, contrast and saturation. There is a drop-down menu that seems to indicate that the application allows you to hard-code subtitle files, but this feature didn't work for me.
In my testing, I loaded a WMV file that I had trouble playing on my Mac and converted it to H.264, a great format for the Mac. The process was quick and smooth. The resulting file played great on iTunes, and I could add it to my iPhone without any problems as well.
By the looks of it, this application hasn't been updated for over 2 years, which isn't a reassuring fact. No new updates seem to have been added in a long time.
