Boingo Wi-Finder is a simple Mac utility that might prove to be of good use when traveling across the country.

This program helps you find Wi-Fi hotspot in various corners of the world and provides you with a quick way to stay connected to the strongest hotspot signals available.

The application lives on your Menu Bar from where you can change the way it operates. After you click over the "Search For Hotspots" option from the main menu of the program you will be redirected to a page in your default Web browser. There you will be able to find a map showing the nearby Wi-Fi hotspots. Personally, I would've liked the utility more if the map would've been accessible from the app's interface and not from my default browser.

The program also features an option to notify you whenever it detects a new, strong Wi-Fi hotspot.

Another important advantage is the fact that you can configure the application to automatically connect to commercial-free hotspots. The utility will choose the strongest connection to get you online.

Cutting a long story short, I think Boingo Wi-Finder is a must for Mac users who travel a lot and wish to stay connected to Wi-Fi hotspots. The program is very simple to configure, works great, and uses minimum CPU resources. Plus, it's free.
