avZap Antivirus Scanner

avZap Antivirus Scanner 3.9

Keeps your computer safe from malware, addware and spyware threats.

avZap Antivirus Scanner is intended to keep your computer safe from malware attacks. Likewise, it lets you identify and stop adware and spyware. Moreover, it can also find potentially harmful apps on your system.

The application has a neat and user-friendly interface. It has tabs that let you access the desired features without difficulty. From the Scan tab, you can start different types of scans, including Quick, Normal, Browser Restore, Full and Directory, each with different depths and scopes. Once the results are available, you can easily browse and view details about them. Likewise, it is possible to remove only those items you consider convenient.

The scanner is quite accurate in terms of identifying possible threats. In this respect, various benchmarking studies have reported that the tool can find approximately 90% of the malware. Moreover, you can regularly update its database to detect the latest threats. Good news is that you can create a sort of a white list to exclude certain files, and thus avoid false positives.

For me, one of the limitations of this antivirus app is that it does not automatically scan newly created or downloaded files on the background. However, in addition to on-demand scans, you can set the tool to start at login as well as schedule quick scans at a given frequency. It can also get stuck while scanning large files.

All in all, avZap Antivirus Scanner is a good choice to confront different malware threats. In this respect, it is also a more affordable option compared with the big names in the AV industry. Good news is a one-time purchase with no renewable subscription.
