AVG AntiVirus is a very capable program that helps you get rid of all the viruses and spyware on your Mac. The application brings you a simple and nicely-designed interface, so all Mac users, no matter their computer experience, can easily handle this antivirus utility.
You can scan the entire system, external storage devices, directories as well as individual files located on your local drive. This program also features real-time protection which means that whenever you open or copy a file on your Mac, AVG AntiVirus immediately scans the document for malware threats.
In addition, the app automatically updates its malware signatures within the viruses database. Hence, your computer's security is always up-to-date.
In my testing, I scanned the entire system for malware threats. Unfortunately, I had to wait a while for this scan to be completed. What's more, in the process, the application used up a notable amount of CPU resources (Mac's Activity Monitor app displayed a high CPU usage).
Nevertheless, the results were conclusive. The program found one threat on my Mac and immediately removed it.
As a conclusion, I'd say it's worth installing this free antivirus utility on your computer, especially if you download content from the Web on a daily basis or share documents with other users. Even though the app brings several flaws, I'd still use it to make sure that there aren't any infected files on my Mac.
