Aspera Connect

Powers high-speed data transfers between your computer and Aspera servers.

Aspera Connect is intended to allow connections between your computer and Aspera servers. The product is crucial if you want to benefit from the fast data transfers provided by these Cloud services.

Unfortunately, help documentation is scarce.

The application is mainly intended to work in the background, which means it is quite unlikely that you ever have to deal with its interface. However, it may be necessary to change its default settings to support connections and configure how transfers should be made. For instance, you can decide whether you want to queue your transfers or not, as well as set the maximum number of concurrent transfers. Likewise, the app may be set to automatically retry failed transfers. Similarly, you can set bandwidth use limits, connect through a proxy server or create a list of trusted hosts.

Many of the benefits of using Aspera Connect are derived from those of the services with the same name. Their services are stable, secure and, above all, extremely fast. It is quite convenient that sending or sharing huge files is supported as well. Regrettably, some issues regarding poor version control and firewall conflicts have been reported.

All in all, Aspera Connect is a practically invisible app that allows you to benefit from powerful file sharing, transfer and storage services. There is actually no download link for this tool as it only installs on demand. In this regard, a screen should appear prompting you to download and install the corresponding browser extensions and the application itself. The product is free to use, though the services it makes possible require paying for a subscription.

Is it M1-compatible?

Reine, I don't think it is - all the installers say "x86" on them.
