A Tron light cycle game clone with 3D graphics and multiplayer capabilities.
Armagetron Advanced is a Tron light cycle game clone with 3D graphics and multiplayer capabilities (local and online).
For those unfamiliar with the Tron light cycle game, it's basically a high-speed version of Snake where the aim is to destroy other players by forcing them to crash into a tail. There are no body-lengthening snacks to collect here; tail/exhaust length is constant or infinite, depending on game settings.
For reasons I was unable to determine, the light cycle pauses before exploding for about a second in online play, permitting the player to evade the wall (assuming there is a space to turn in to, however small). In local play death is concurrent with contact. Perhaps the online multiplayer delay is a mechanism built in to prevent lag-based deaths. In any case, it allows much more complex play - players weave intricate passages around each other from which escape is common for the skilled but unthinkable for the novice.
Sam's Protip: By default, the turning keys are Z and X, while the arrow keys adjust view. Controls are fully customizable.
