Info updated on:

ZipMounter Lite is a simple application designed to help you mount archives as local disks or volumes on your Mac. This way, you will be able to view the structure of your archives, open zipped files and folders, and preview contents without unpacking. Consequently, the disk space remains uncluttered for a good system performance.

The tool installs in the menu bar of your Mac. All you need to do is drop down the menu - here you can mount the desired archives, unmount packages if you don't need them anymore, and access the history of your mounted files. Mounting your archives can be done in multiple ways. Therefore, you can either click on the menu bar icon and select 'Mount Archive', drag and drop your archive into the tool's icon, or choose the 'Open with' option available when right-clicking on your archive. The application integrates conveniently with Finder. This way, you can browse for the desired files and open them quickly from Favorites.

In short, ZipMounter Lite is a handy app to preview and open archive files. Users who work often with archives will find the app very useful as they have the chance to save valuable disk space. Unfortunately, the free version of ZipMounter supports mounting just one archive at a time, a limitation that can be overcome by upgrading to the pro version.
