YouTubeHunter lets you download any video from YouTube and other video-sharing websites. It also features a built-in converter that can be used to convert those downloaded videos into MP3. There is a search field that enables you to type in a few keywords and find videos just as you would do on YouTube or Vimeo. Then the found videos can be sorted by categories like: most popular, most viewed, popular in HD, recent videos, most recent, etc.
When you click on one of the results, a small pane on the right will show you a snapshot of the video, and you can even play it from there. Below you'll find a bit of information about the video. And if you are downloading it, you will see the total size of the file and how much has already been downloaded.
YouTubeHunter lets you choose whether you want to download a video or just its audio, which is ideal for when you only want to download a song.
The app comes in three flavors: Lite, Full and Pro versions. The first one, which is the cheapest, only allows you to download videos from within the application, as opposed to downloading them by pasting a video URL. It also limits the quality of videos to standard definition (480p), and it only supports video downloads from YouTube. The other two versions let you download HD videos from YouTube, Vimeo and other websites, from within the app or from a YouTube URL. Later they can be exported to iTunes directly, as well.
All in all, this program works very well. The only thing I would change is the location of the download status for each video. The way it is now, you have to go back to the result of the video that you are downloading to see how much has been downloaded. This should be on the main screen. And it would be great if they also added an estimated time for each download.
