Xilisoft iPhone Ringtone Maker is a utility that lets you create ringtones. As the name suggests, the ringtones are optimized for the iPhone, especially because the app saves files in the M4R format.
The first thing you have to do is load the MP3 song you want to cut down into a ringtone. When you load a file, the app automatically selects a 1-minute fragment. But, of course, you can select the part of the song that you want to use as a ringtone. To do this, you can play the song and click on the "set start" and "set end" buttons. The part of the song that you select will be highlighted in yellow, with green bars at the start and end points. You can add fade in and fade out effects and increase the volume of the audio. This is a nice feature since the iPhone speakers are not very good at playing audio, and they might need a volume boost for ringtones. When you are ready, simply click on "convert" and the app will save the M4R file to your Mac. Or, you can have the computer add it to iTunes, so its easier to send it to your phone later.
