Window Magnet is a very useful window management utility. It can be used to easily resize and move your windows to pre-defined locations on your screen. I use my applications maximized so they take as much space on my screen as posible. But on occasion, I like to put two windows side by side so that I can compare documents or transfer files in Finder by dragging and dropping. This application can save you a lot of time when doing that. The utility can move your windows when you use your mouse to drag them to one of the corners of your screen, when you use a keyboard shortcut or when you select a position from the menubar icon.
After testing the application for a few minutes, I fell in love with the keyboard shortcuts. I think it is the easiest way to use this app. With any window selected (active), you can press a keyboard shortcut to move it to the left, right, bottom or top half of the screen. Using this arrangement mode, you can have two applications side by side (or one at the bottom and one at the top of the screen). Then, if you want to have four apps on the screen at the same time, you can put each of them in one of the corners of the screen. The shortcuts can be changed, but the default ones work like a charm. For example, to put your active window on the left, taking half the size of the screen, you need to press the Ctrl+Alt+left arrow key combination.
You can also maximize windows and restore them to their previous size with shortcuts and via the menubar icon. more
