TmpDisk allows you to create a temporary disk based on your machine’s RAM memory. This has the advantage of supporting fast access to the data stored on it, which makes it ideal to avoid the delay caused by saving large files while they are being edited or you are extracting the contents of archives.
The application runs unobtrusively on the Menu Bar. By clicking on its icon there, you can access its menu. Not many operations can be done with this tool except creating a new temporary disk. In this regard, it would be necessary to supply a name and the intended size, which, unfortunately, cannot exceed 1.5 Gb. Moreover, there are options that allow setting the tool to create the new disk automatically with every startup. Likewise, it is possible to hide the volume.
In general, TmpDisk can help you save some time by reducing the time it takes to manipulate large amounts of data. The product is opensource so there is nothing to lose if you give it a try.
Pros
- Creates a temporary disk automatically
- Allows hiding the new volume
- Works stably
Cons
- Cannot specify a volume size over 1.5 gb
It's 10x slower than normal SSD disk. How is it possible? It's not useful for me.
