Tipard Apple TV Converter Suite for Mac is a pack of video conversion tools. There are two apps that come in this suite.
The first app, Apple TV Video Converter for Mac, is a video converter that can open most video files and convert them into formats that are supported by the AppleTV. The supported output formats are MPEG-4, H.264, M4V, MOV, WebM, and WMV. I know for a fact that H.264 and MPEG-4 will play on the AppleTV just fine. Those formats are also supported by the entire Apple product line-up and many other multimedia playback devices.
The second app is the DVD ripper. It can be used to convert DVD movies into video files. The format support is identical to the video converter. And this app also comes with conversion profiles for the iPhone, iPod and iPad.
In terms of performance, both applications work well. I tested the video converter by converting an MKV file into H.264 and the DVD ripper by ripping a single DVD title into H.264. I didn't experience any problems and the converted files looked good.
