Thunder Fleets Lite is a great strategy game for the Mac. It is the free version of Thunder Fleets. As such, it has some limitations. But I will get to that later. In this game you can construct and control a fleet of ships to fight your enemy and gain control of his territory. In the free version, you play against a single opponent, and each of you starts with an HQ. There is a shipyard in your HQ, which can construct different types of ships. Your territory is marked in blue and your enemy's in red. In each map, there are neutral territories. To conquer a part of the map, you have to put a ship in it for some time. If the enemy also has a ship there, you won't conquer it, but neither will he. If you send an additional ship, you have more power and start conquering the territory. It is all about strength in numbers. There is also a radar station and two additional shipyards in the map. By capturing them, you will have superior construction and intelligence capabilities, which would tip the balance in your favor.

Thunder Fleets Lite positively surprised me. I was expecting it to be a dull and boring game. Despite its old-looking graphics, it proved to be a lot of fun and I lost myself playing it for a good hour. There are different difficulty levels you can choose from. The easiest one is too easy, so start with medium. The game plays a bit slow, but that wasn't a problem for me.

The paid version of this game comes with skirmish and multiplayer modes, and a campaign where you can play U.S.A or Japan.Thunder Fleets Lite is a great strategy game for the Mac.
