In this game you play as a detective whose objective is to investigate a string of kidnappings in a city called Whitewall. You will explore various locations, interact with characters that provide you with assistance, solve countless puzzles, and collect various clues for your case.
Like many Collector's editions available on the Big Fish website, this app gives you access to a strategy guide, quality wallpapers and soundtracks, and an extra chapter that becomes accessible only once you complete the main story. Furthermore, you can create as many player profiles as you like, change the appearance of your mouse cursor, and adjust the sound volume according to your needs.
The app lets you choose between 3 difficulty levels (Easy, Normal, and Hard). You cannot change this option after selecting it. If you wish to play a different game mode, you need to create another player profile and select the preferred difficulty level.
At the beginning of the game you will receive various gameplay instructions. You can disable this feature if you want to. Plus, you can use the integrated help manual, Hint option or the strategy guide if you require some assistance while playing the game.
The locations are nicely drawn and so are the cinematics. I also liked the storyline of the main chapter. The hidden object mini-games were neither too easy nor too difficult to play.
To conclude, The Torment of Whitewall Collector's Edition is an addictive puzzle game that comes with a reasonable price and a captivating plot. My guess is it's worth buying it for your computer if you're into playing this type of puzzle games.
