The Cat That Got The Milk

Playing The Cat That Got The Milk is like handling an out-of-control Etch A Sketch. In this game you are, theoretically, helping a cat reach its bowl of milk, but you may as well be twisting the knobs of a mad scientist's invention.

The graphics are surreal, abstract, and dynamic, leaving you guessing what will show up on the next level.

Very little instruction is provided other than "Controls: Up/Down". It becomes apparent pretty quickly that these controls change the direction of movement of a constantly moving rectangle which is ever sliding rightward by default, leaving behind it a dotted trail. Evasion of obstacles is the name of the game, a task that generally gets harder with level progression. Colliding with an object results in an immediate reset of the rectangle to the left of the screen, the only change being an increment of the "Variation" number displayed in the upper right-hand corner.

At eighteen fairly simple levels, which can be skipped at will after a certain number of failures, this isn't a game you'll spend hours playing. The real enjoyment comes from the well-executed novelty of the game art and the simple joy of experiencing the unexpected.
