Description

Painlessly generates random passwords

StrongPassword is a simple utility that painlessly generates random passwords. It is designed to be used with a password manager. 1Password, Dashlane, or LastPass are common examples. While Apple provides the built-in Keychain with macOS.

Generated passwords can be have variable length and character sets. The strength indicator provides an easy to read gauge of quality. The copy button makes it easy to enter the generated password into other programs. It also securely clears the copy/paste after use to limit unnecessarily exposure.

StrongPassword is designed only to provide password generation. If you use and forget a password generated by this application there is no way to retrieve or regenerate it.

Simple, attractive and powerful

I'm rewriting a previous review because this new version of the app is so powerful and well designed I felt my old review no longer applied. The developer has worked hard to polish an already great app and add features I didn't know I wanted but now that I have them I'm quite happy.

The Basic, Advanced and Words modes are very well conceived and allow me to really change things up so my passwords don't follow a similar set of rules.

What really shines is the extremely polished and simple interface. No gimmicks and no cruft, just a good go-to app when I need a new password. Highly recommended!

Dice word feature makes it my choice

It's easy to find random string generators, but I need passwords I can tap or type when I can't paste. So I need random English words or wordlike structures. StrongPassword's recently added "words" feature does the trick. It's the heir to "Password Assistant" a 2006 app that won't survive Catalina.

Random capitalization and number insertion would be nice just because of stupid system password requirements. I take what comes out of StrongPassword and edit as needed to add those.

Being able to edit the password string in place would save me a copy paste or two.

Lastly, this should be at least $2 in the app store rether than free.

Developer Response ,

Thanks for the review! I am actually preparing a new version. I will see about adding capitalization and numbers. If you have any other ideas for the "Words" section I would love to hear them.

Thanks again,
Chris
