The application is basically a preference pane that runs a small web server on your Mac to which other devices can connect. When you connect from your iOS device, you will see a window that resembles the iOS Music application. From there, you can pause and resume playback, go one song forwards or backwards, or access the song list and even search for a specific song. You can also play videos from the remote, but you won't see them on your phone's screen. If you connect through a computer, you will see an image of the iPhone and you will be able to interact with its screen.
