Attaching large files to your emails is almost impossible nowadays as the upload limit for most email clients is not more than 50MB. For this reason, various types of alternatives to sharing data via email were created. A good example is the Send Anywhere program which enables you to send up to 20GB of data directly from your desktop.
This utility has a nicely-designed user-friendly interface. All you need to do in order to share your files or folders is to click over the "Send" button, drag-and-drop the documents or directories, and the app will provide you with a 6-key code which the receiver will need to enter to have access to the shared data.
Furthermore, the program provides you with a download URL for the uploaded files. You just need to share the offered URL with anyone you want to have access to your files and folders.
You can also create a personal Send Anywhere account and enter your credentials within the app's interface. By doing so, you eliminate the step consisting of writing the 6-key code every time you share data. The program keeps track of the devices that were attached to the account and will no longer display the 6-key code pop-up window.
The only disadvantage I was able to find was that the URLs for downloading the uploaded content expire after 48 hours. Still, you can always re-upload and share your data when the receiver can download it.
All in all, I think Send Anywhere is a great solution for sharing files on your Mac. It's simple-to-use, immediately uploads the data and generates download URLs, and is free.
