Scrambler is a Menu Bar program that provides you with a quick way to encrypt files and folders on your Mac.

This application comes in handy if you work in an environment where it's imperative to keep private data away from prying eyes and prevent unauthorized users from accessing your important files.

The first thing I've noticed in my testing was the simplicity of the entire encryption process. All you need to do is drag and drop the files you need to encrypt over the app's icon from the Menu Bar, enter the master password, and choose a destination folder. Then, the app creates a single encrypted file containing the selected data.

Furthermore, Scrambled offers even an easier way to decrypt protected files: drag and drop encrypted data over the icon and enter the access password.

Even though on the homepage of the developer it's stated that the program uses an advanced and secure encryption algorithm (AES-256-CBC), the app didn't manage to offer me full-protection for my files. To be more exact, unauthorized users could still move, copy, share, delete the encrypted files and folders. Nevertheless, there's a small chance they'll ever be able to open the protected data (they require an access password).

If the aforementioned flaw doesn't mean much to you, I'd say you should try this program. It comes with easy-to-configure settings, sits quietly on your Menu Bar without using a large amount of CPU resources, and is pretty cheap.
