SCOtutor for iPad is a screencast video that explains how to use the iPad. It is basically a 2-hour video that contains screencasts of the most basic and quite a few advanced features of the iPad. There are playback controls that let you customize the way you want to see the video. There are of course the play, pause, rewind and forward buttons. But there is also a control that lets you change the speed of the video playback to 0.5x, 0.75x, 1.5x and 2.0x. The video is divided into chapters, and you can either use the playback controls to go back or forward between chapters, or call up the chapters list. This will open a new window with the names of all the chapters and you can choose the one you want to go to.
The screencasts are narrated, and the narrator does a great job of speaking slowly and emphasizing on the important information that is given to the viewer. He uses a yellow dot where he taps on the iPad, so that you can direct your attention to that area. He also uses red arrows to point out important areas of the screen.
This screencast tutorial doesn't assume any previous Mac, iPad or PC knowledge, so it is ideal for beginner users. The screencast begins with the physical buttons on the iPad and what they do, but more advanced features are mentioned and explained later on in the video.
Users who prefer watching videos with subtitles will be happy to know that this app has English subtitles.
