The Chronicles of Shakespeare: Romeo & Juliet is a puzzle game created by the Daedalic Entertainment company. The app introduces Shakespeare in his early poet and playwright days, before gaining fame. Your goal is to help him finish one of his most representative works - Romeo and Juliet.
You will play as Romeo and Juliet one at a time, from the perspective of both characters, each with own goals and locations to explore. The app will provide you with plenty of useful hints and a comprehensive help guide. Instead of giving you access to a hint button, this app will offer you the assistance of a little girl who will come in handy if you get stuck in a location or wish to skip a mini-game.
You won't have access to hidden object mini-games. The app will offer you various puzzles which can be solved only by collecting certain items from the scenes. Unfortunately, you can only do things in a definite order. For example, at one point, you will need to open a door by using a handle, an oil can, and a cloth (the last 2 for cleaning the door handle). The aforementioned items can be collected only after reaching the door in question. So, you will need to come back to explore previous locations to pick up useful objects.
The one thing that bothers me is the fact that it takes a while to load the app.
However, the storyline is captivating, full of plot twists. Plus, I really like the artworks and dialogues between its characters.
With that being said, you should try The Chronicles of Shakespeare: Romeo & Juliet if you're looking for an exciting puzzle game for your Mac.
