Retroactive (right click to open)

Run various applications on Mac operating systems.

  DOWNLOAD Free

Retroactive lets you run Aperture, iPhoto, and iTunes on macOS Catalina. It also supports Xcode 11.6 or 11.5 on macOS Mojave and Final Cut Pro 7, Logic Pro 9, and iWork ’09 on macOS Mojave or macOS High Sierra.

Retroactive will automatically scan your Mac to locate an existing Aperture, iPhoto, iTunes, Final Cut Pro 7, Logic Pro 9, Xcode 11.6 or 11.5, or iWork ’09 install. If Retroactive can’t locate an existing install of Aperture or iPhoto, you’ll either be asked to download it from the Purchased list in App Store, or re-install it from a DVD disc.

After moving on an M1 Mac, I went through a pretty exhaustive search for a podcast app that gave me the same versatility with my (offline only) iPod Shuffle. Installing iTunes on Monterey via Retroactive wound up being the best solution for me.Cursory reading suggests this approach doesn't work on Ventura, so for this reason I won't be upgrading my OS until forced to.

Can I use retroactive to run iTunes on big surf? When I upgraded from mama E to big surf iTunes disappeared but will my iTunes files still all be intact?

With this app, Aperture runs in Monterey. A few glitches: 1. the Full screen option, sometimes it does not work well -screen flickers, and aperture closes down. 2. For a slide show, the options work well. Except for one, when the slide timing is manual. The music does not come on. Other options work so far.Aperture is a great program -very simple. I am lucky, with Retroactive I was able to install it again.
