Radio Silence

Prevent applications from connecting to the Internet.

  DOWNLOAD

Radio Silence is a Mac program that enables you to monitor your network activity and prevent unneeded applications from connecting to the Internet.

This utility might prove to be of good use when traveling as it helps you make sure you don't overtake the limit that's being established in your contract with the Internet provider.

The application features a very intuitive interface that gives you access to two panels: Firewall and Network Monitor. In the first screen, you can manage the program you wish to prevent from accessing the Internet. The utility enables you to add and remove as many items as you need and immediately applies the necessary changes. The next window displays the apps that are making network connections on your Mac.

In my testing, I used Radio Silence to block Firefox from making a network connection. The program quickly applied the needed changes, without slowing down my Mac in the process. What's more, the information from the Network Monitor window was accurate.

The only thing I'd add to this application would be an option to sort the items from the Firewall and Network Monitor windows. For instance, it might prove to be of good use to see the items from the lists in alphabetical order.

In conclusion, Radio Silence proves to be a reliable solution when it comes to monitoring and blocking Internet usage on your Mac.

Paid for the app, was never sent the license. When purchasing there's a message stating it would be sent via email. I checked spam, but it never came in. No response to the email on the website. Don't waste your money.

I'm using this app for a long time, but I'm annoyed with the fact I can't hide the app & have it in the menu bar. Can the developers add this functionality?
