What's new

v3.0
This version includes mostly minor improvements for improved usage. All saved files now use a plain-text format (prior binary files can still be opened). Formatting of tick labels was improved and tick marks can use a custom color. When double clicking axis or text labels to edit in place, some MacOS's caused the plot to disappear while editing; the plot now stays visible. While dragging plot annotations, the left and bottom pixel locations are displayed to help position them as desired. A few other changes and described in the "What's New" section of the help window.

v1.1 [Jan 20, 2013]
Version 1.1 has added several new features and fixed a one bug:
1. A new tool bar item displays the (x,y) location in plot coordinates as you hover the mouse over the plot area. You can customize the tool bar to get it (if it does not appear automatically).
2. Two new fitting options in the "Data" tab of the plot inspector can fit data sets to a power law (y = a x^b) or an exponential curve (y = a exp(b x) ).
3. A third new fitting option in the "Data" tab will smooth data to a spline curve. The previous spline option was an interpolant through all data points. In contrast, the new smoothing is a least squares fit to a data set using a spline curve with a user-adjustable number of smoothing intervals.
4. You can now add, subtract, multiply, or divide any two curves for new data transformations in the "Data" tab.
5. A new plot line style option will fill a curve with a color.
6. The Export... menu command adds commands to the output result to remember the titles for the x and y axes in case those data are later imported into a different window. Note that the export option is intended for getting a table of data for editing in other software. You should simply "Save" documents for archival storage of all plot settings.
7. Selections of tabs and items in the plot inspector have been improved to provide a more intuitive user interface.
8. Fixed a bug that caused some spline interpolations to fail.
Finally, some of the documentation was cleared up. For example, a few people had trouble with dates it tables. Dates work fine, but if the date style includes a space or a comma (such as "Nov 1, 2012"), the entire date must be quoted to insure it is recognized as a single column of data.
In addition, a few users were confused about plotting bar charts with text-based categories along the x axis. PublishPlot is currently intended for all numeric data along both the x and y axes. As a result, tables must contain only numeric data or dates (which are converted to numeric values). A future version of PublishPlot will add support for text based labels and various types of bar charts. It will be a free upgrade for registered users when ready.
All new features are listed in the "What's New" information in the PublishPlot help window (along with links to more details on those new features).
