PrivateTunnel is a great multi-platform VPN solution. VPN stands for Virtual Private Network and it is a service that you can use to do many things. I use it to access video sharing websites that have geographical restrictions in place but I know that many people use it to browse the web more securely.

When you connect to one of the available servers with PrivateTunnel, your IP address will be hidden from pretty much anyone. This guarantees that you are not the target of certain attacks. There are five servers available: two in the US, one in the UK, one in Switzerland and one in Canada. When you are connected, your IP address will be the IP address of the server you are connecting to. So, anyone who is looking at your activity will not know what your real IP is.

I tested the service by connecting to one of the US servers and accessing sites like Hulu and Netflix. Both of them thought that I was in the US, so Hulu let me stream content without any problems, and Netflix displayed the US library for me to stream.

PrivateTunnel gives you 100 megabytes for free for you to test the application, and once you have used that, you will be unable to connect to the service. There are three different plans that you can purchase: 50 gigabytes, 100 gigabytes and 500 gigabytes. The prices range from $12 to $50.
