By using Pocket you get access to various URL sorting options as well as the ability to add clips and images to the list, share news articles with your friends, etc. So, it's much more than just a bookmark manager.

Another advantage is the fact that you can copy text content from the stored news articles and paste it in other Mac applications. You can also select a different font size and style, opt between two background themes (black or white), and even print articles directly from the program's interface.
