Layout Templates

There are two groups of layout templates within Photo Print. The first group of layouts are the built-in layouts that come with Photo Print. The second group of layouts are the layouts you define and are called custom layouts. You can switch between these two groups of layouts by selecting the layout group from the layout group button at the bottom of the document window.
Template Parts:
A layout template is composed of four different colored boxes. The light purple area represents the background and is not part of the actual template itself. A white box with the gray border represents a layout. A blue box represents an image frame. A green box represents a text frame. The layout template in the sidebar is an approximation of the actual template because borders and shadows are not shown.

Using a Template:
To use a layout template just drag it from the frames sidebar to a page or another layout on the page. The layout will be automatically centered in the new context. It is that easy. Layout templates are a tremendous timesaver!
Deleting a Template:
To delete a layout template, perform a contextual click on the layout item in the sidebar. A pop-up menu will appear with a menu item to delete the template. You can only delete templates that you have created.
Creating a Template:
To create a layout template, select the menu item “Create Custom Layout…” from the contextual menu of the item you wish to turn into a template. A dialog will appear that will allow you to assign a name to the new template. Once you confirm the creation of the template, it will appear at the end of your custom templates. You can reorder your templates by dragging and dropping them into new positions. The templates you create are global in scope and can be used in any document.
Exporting and Importing Templates:
You can export and import custom templates. To export the custom templates select the menu item, “File > Layouts > Export Layouts…”. To import templates, select the menu item “File > Layouts > Import Layouts…”. You have two choices when importing templates, you can append all the templates in the file to your current set of templates or replace all your current templates with the templates from the file. You can use an exported template file as a backup to your current set of templates or to transfer templates to another machine.
