Setting Up a Document
The first step is to create a new document. You can do this by selecting “New” from the file menu. A new window will appear with a single page.

The next thing is to select the page size. You do this by selecting the menu item “File > Page Setup” and select the page size you want. Note, the orientation and scale fields will be ignored in the Page Setup dialog. All the pages you create within your document will now use the page size you chose. If you change the page size after you have added content to the document, you will need to reposition your content on each page. So it helps to have the correct page setting when you create the document to avoid having to reposition your content.

You can save your document at any time with the file menu. Note, if you add a lot of photos to your document, you could end up with a very large document. Photo Print will attempt to conserve as much space as possible within the document, but your document could be large depending on the size and number of photos you add.
Create Layouts and Frames
Once you have created your document, you need to add layouts and frames. A layout allows you to group common items together. A frame, allows you to place photos or text on a page. Photo Print has a set of built-in layouts that you can drop into your document, and you can also create your own layouts and save them as templates which you can later drop in your document just as you would for built-in templates.

You can create individual layout and frame items by using the item menu and selecting one of the "Create" menu items from the "Item" menu. You can access the item menu from the main menu bar or as a contextual menu from the item you click on. The item menu will change according to the object you are working.

You can set up your own layout and frame sizes in the preferences dialog under the "Layouts" tab.
Add Photos
Now, you are ready to drop in photos into the frames you just created. You can cut and paste an image into an image frame or drag-and-drop an image from the desktop or from other programs like Apple Photos. When you add a text frame, you add text by double-clicking on the frame itself which will bring up an editor where you can edit your text.

Adjust Layouts, Frames, and Photos
Photo Print takes a frame based approach where the frame size is the determining factor for how your photos are displayed. After you drop a frame into your document, you can move it around, adjust its size, and change its rotation. You can also adjust the image within the frame which includes positioning, size, and rotation.
Move the Frame: To move a layout or frame, move the mouse over the frame and hold down the shift key and then drag the frame to the position you desire.
Resize the Frame: To resize a frame, move the mouse over the blue selection rectangle surrounding the frame and a resize cursor will appear. Click and drag the edge of the frame to the desired position.
Move the Image: To move an image within a frame, hold down the command key and click and drag within the frame. You will see the hand cursor appear to indicate you are about to move the image.
Resize the Image: To resize the image within a frame, hold down the option key and click and drag the mouse in a vertical direction. If you move the mouse in a downward direction, the image size will increase. If you move the mouse in an upward direction, the image size will decrease.
Rotation: If you wish to rotate a frame or image, you need to access those controls within the “Layout” sidebar.
