Pavtube MXF Converter is a video conversion utility that can help you convert your camcorder recordings to formats that you can open on your Mac and other multimedia playback devices.

Many camcorders use the MXF format to encode HD recordings. The format allows for very high quality video recordings that look great, but you will have a hard time trying to play them on most devices. I downloaded a sample HD MXF file from the Internet and I used this app to convert it to H.264, one of the most popular formats these days. The original file was 16 megabytes and its length was 2 seconds. The converted file weighed only 3 megabytes. I didn't see a noticeable quality loss, but every conversion process results in at least a bit of quality loss.

This application comes with a very complete video editor. It allows you to trim and crop your videos and adjust some of their properties. There is also support for 2D to 3D conversion, watermarks and you can even use it to replace the audio track of your video files.

The output format support is quite good. The most popular video and audio formats are supported, and there are also a number of conversion profiles for devices like the iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch and other multimedia playback devices.

Pros

  • Good output format support
  • Nice interface
  • Complete video editor

Cons

  • It crashed once during my testing

Me and my fellows shot videos by Canon XF 100, which output video format is MXF. In order to import our videos in Sony Movie Studio Platinum video editor, those videos had to be converted. So that we can do some edits and then upload to our channel. The truth is , I had been using open source Handbrake, but it did some bad conversion. Then I did a Net search, found your Pavtube MXF Converter, tested it, then purchased a license. It worked great and imported to the video editor without any problem. The converted video itself was played smoothly. I am so happy with the result.
