Optimism is an application that was designed to help your mental health. It was thought for people who suffer from depression and bipolar disorder, among other mental disorders. Basically, the app lets you track your daily life, so that you can see what activities and what triggers affect your mental health and overall state. Optimism has extensive support for graphs and reports, and those are an important part of how and why this app works.
On the main window, you are supposed to input some data daily. You have to tell the app how good or bad was your mood today, how well you coped, the quality of your sleep, how long you exercised for, how many hours you slept and whether or not you took your medication. This is all done by moving sliding bars from 1 to 10 to rate each of those items. There are three panes on the right that show "Stay well strategies", "Triggers" and "Symptoms". These are activities or events that you can check by clicking on the appropriate checkbox. For example, "stay well strategies" are adequate sleep, exercise, relaxation, healthy meals, drinking plenty of water, etc. The triggers are stress at work or school, stress at home, lack of sleep, too much things to do at once, and negative self talk, among many others. By trying to carry out stay well strategies and avoiding triggers, you will make your life better. And you can track all this from the reports and charts.
