On The Job is a time and expense tracking tool designed for all freelancers working by the hour. With this application you will be able to record various jobs performed for one or multiple clients (complete with custom billing) and generate invoices.
All jobs are organized hierarchically around clients. The utility allows users to manage one of 4 types of job payments: timed, fixed cost, mileage, and quantity. The type of payment selected will be reflected in the generated invoice. From the Client panel you can setup a global hourly rate, currency format, mileage rate, as well as additional taxes. In addition to this, other client details can be retrieved from existent Address Book contacts.
Invoices are powered by templates; On The Job includes a Template Editor tool that allows you to customize the look and feel of all invoice fields.
In order to speed up time tracking tasks, the application provides hotkey support for many of its functions (start or stop a timer, create new job items, navigate through the job list).
I found On The Job quite an efficient time tracking utility; it requires very little effort to configure even for complex billing jobs and does help manage time more effectively when dealing with multiple tasks or clients. The only missing feature I could find is the inability to create custom reports, graphs or statistics (hours worked per day, inactivity intervals etc).
