MoviePal helps you organize your movie collection by tagging the items automatically. What is more, it can convert most file formats to MP4 in case it is necessary for playback on the intended Mac device or app, such as Apple TV and iTunes. Additionally, this tool can find matching subtitles for your films.

The app’s interface is quite attractive. It lets you browse the films with ease, showing their corresponding metadata, like a title, plot, cast, studio, director, producer, composer, screenwriter and poster. Luckily, you can add movies and edit their metadata in batches. However, it does not support dragging and dropping folders.

Although manual editing is allowed, what is best about the tool is that it can query online movie databases to get the necessary information. Regrettably, it may not always find matching data.

As to subtitles, the application supports searching for them in 82 different languages. Once found, they are added as soft text-based subtitles, which you can easily replace with another version if you want to. In this respect, you can easily try and pick subtitles from the list of results.

All in all, MoviePal may save you the effort of tagging your movie files manually. It is a shame, however, that the application sometimes fails to find the desired info. The product is available from the Mac Store at a reasonable price. Regrettably, there is no trial version.
