MovieChapterizer

MovieChapterizer provides an easy way to add chapter names into movies you can view with QuickTime Player.

MovieChapterizer is an interesting video edition tool. It allows you to create chapters in your video files.

Then, you can open your files in QuickTime or any other player with support for chapters and browse through your video by selecting individual chapters, just like you would if you were playing a DVD movie. Think of it as fancy bookmarks. The trial version of MovieChapterizer only allows you to add two chapters to any file, and the first one is added automatically at the start of the video. The application seems to only support formats that are supported by QuickTime, so that should limit your options to H.264, MPEG-4, MOV, and a few other formats.

Using the application really couldn't be any easier. All you have to do is create a new project, and then import the video that you want to "chapterize". Then, you can play the video and start adding chapters by clicking on the plus sign (+) at the bottom-right part of the screen. The app will ask you to give a name to each chapter, and then you can see them all listed on the right.

In my testing, I was able to add a chapter to a TV episode and then, when I watched it on QuickTime, I could select this chapter from the chapter list and play the video from there.
