MouseX is a simple Mac program that logs the mouse and trackpad traveling distance on your desktop. This application displays the distance covered by your mouse or trackpad within a user-friendly interface, counts how many times you hit left and right clicks, and much more.

It might surprise you but the distance you cover just by using your mouse on the screen, even more than 100 meters in under a minute.

As soon as you launch the utility on your computer it immediately starts counting data. The main window of the app is divided into three sections: Distance Traveled, Clicks, and Pressed Keys. You also have access to a Preferences panel where you can select the type of monitor you're using and preferred distance unit (pixel, inch, foot, yard, mile, meter, and kilometer).

In addition, you have access to an option to immediately erase any data stored within MouseX.

This new version adds compatibility with OS X 10.10 (Yosemite) and support for iMac Retina and MacBook.

In conclusion, I'd say it's worth installing this third-party program on your Mac if you're curious to know the distance your mouse or trackpad has covered. Plus, it comes without a price tag.
