MKVTools is actually a graphical interface that allows using various video editing tools without needing to use the command line.

It is intended to process MKV files specifically and there are other similar apps for other video extensions, such as MP4 and AVI.

Unluckily, the app’s interface is not as user-friendly as those of other similar tools. In this respect, it fails to give a sense of unity. The app takes advantage of the possibility of MKV files to contain different audio, video and subtitle tracks. Regarding this, it lets you pick the tracks you want to process, which may serve to make files lighter by eliminating unnecessary tracks, like those containing foreign language audio or subtitles.
