Mia for Gmail (was Notifier Pro for Gmail) is a desktop Gmail client which sits politely in your menu bar.
This Menu Bar application lets you log in to your Gmail account and check your emails directly from your desktop, without using your default browser.
Once you launch the utility on your computer, it places an icon on your Menu Bar. After you connect to your Gmail account, the application will display a list with the last 10 received emails. You also have access to a Go To Inbox option which redirects you to your Gmail account within Safari browser.
The program also provides you with new email notifications, can display only the unread messages on this menu, and much more.
When it comes to sending emails, Mia for Gmail brings you a disadvantage. The Compose option works for OS X Yosemite 10.10+. Hence, even though the application is compatible with 10.8+, only users with Yosemite or El Capitan can send emails from the program's interface. Users with older Mac versions have to use their default browsers instead.
Another not-so-important flaw is that you need to make a small in-app purchase in order to get rid of ads and have the ability to monitor multiple Gmail accounts.
In my opinion, this program is one of the best Gmail desktop clients. So, if the aforementioned disadvantages don't bother you, you should definitely give it a try on your Mac.
