mediAvatar YouTube to iPod Converter is a video downloader and converter. The application lets you browse YouTube.com as if you where using your default web browser and you can easily download any video that you are currently watching by clicking on the download button at the top of the screen. When you do that, you will see the "New download" dialog. From here, there are a few options that you can change. You can choose the version of the video that you want to download from a drop-down list. The available ones will vary from video to video, but you should always try to download the highest ones for better looking videos, even though you will have to convert the video to a smaller resolution for your iPod later. You can of course change the name of the file and the location where you want it to be saved. At the bottom of this screen, you can decide whether you want to have the file converted to a different format or to leave it as it is. If you do want to have it converted, there are a few video and audio formats available and some conversion profiles for iPhones and iPods.
In my testing, I was able to browse YouTube without any problems and the downloads and conversions went down smoothly. The converted files looked great and I could play them on iTunes just fine, which guarantees that iPods will play them as well.
